Easy Newborn Hat Crochet Pattern

MATERIALS NEEDED:
- Worsted weight yarn in your choice of colors. These work up quick and require only a small amount of yarn. It’s a great way to de-stash and use up those yarn scraps laying around.
- J hook (US10/6.00mm)
FINISHED SIZE: Newborn size. Measures 6” x 5” laying flat. (12” circumference)
SKILL LEVEL: Beginner
STITCH ABBREVIATIONS:
CH: chain
HDC: half double crochet
SL ST: slip stitch
STS: stitches
SPECIAL NOTES:
This pattern is worked in the round.
GAUGE:
1” = 2 rows of in the round (hdc)
Ch3, sl st together to form a circle.
Round 1: Ch1, 6hdc into the circle center, sl st to beginning. (6)
Round 2: Ch1, 2hdc into each stitch around, sl st to beginning. (12)
Round 3: Ch1, * 1hdc in the first st, 2hdc in next stitch, repeat from * around, sl st to beginning. (18)
Round 4: Ch1, * 1hdc in next 2 sts, 2hdc in next stitch, repeat from * around, sl st to beginning. (24)
Round 5: Ch1, * 1hdc in next 3 sts, 2hdc in next stitch, repeat from * around, sl st to beginning. (30)
Round 6: 1hdc in each hdc space of the previous row, sl st to beginning. Ch1. Turn. (30)
*The key to seamless crochet in the round is to turn your work after each row
Round 7: 1hdc in each hdc space of the previous row, sl st to beginning. Ch1. Turn. (30)
Round 8- 15: Repeat Round 7. (30)
Round 16: 1hdc in each hdc space of the previous row, sl st to beginning. Ch1. Fasten off. (30)
Weave in the ends.
